I don't normally read contemporary, but this had the speculative element which drew me in. The MC is striving to be the best at her school (and in her life) and wants everyone to see that, but things take a turn for the worse. I enjoyed the writing and the descriptions; it felt like I was there with her as she spoke to her parents at the restaurant and then at her school's awards ceremony. Don't like the swears thrown in, but I guess others won't mind. If you like reading stories set in schools (east Asian setting) with cutthroat competitiveness where it seems like people are keeping dark secrets, this may be the book for you.
