I really enjoy the first look that I was able to read. I spent years as an English teacher for children in China so I am always on the lookout for books that have characters from China or are based on Chinese mythology and folklore. I found the story to be unique and interesting. I also really liked that the description of the school and the pressure to excel are very real and very important. From the brief portion I was able to read I think that the story will keep young ones and adults alike engaged. The book is written with characters that are relatable, believable, and three dimensional.
