I really enjoyed this first look. I think the writing is strong and the dynamic that is being created between Alice and her family is really complex and well done.
I think this book will appeal to a wide audience interested in YA literature and that with this premise, it'll make some excellent and insightful points about not belonging along the way.
The cover is really interesting and strange. It made perfect sense once I read the synopsis, but prior to that, I had no idea what it was meant to convey to me. I would love to read more of this novel to see how the magical realism element plays a role, and how the coming of age story and hopefully enemies to lovers romance ends up taking place.
