I told myself that I wouldn't redeem a book with points this week... I have way too many books I need to read... I was clearly lying to myself! This excerpt was absolutely fantastic! I adore the academic rivals trope, which seems like it's going to be part of the focus of the book. Also, the writing was wonderful. I enjoyed the descriptions a lot. That last sentence though!!! I am not typically a fan of magical realism, but this excerpt seemed so realistic that I did not see that last part coming at all! So, I of course redeemed my points because I can't resist the suspense!
