First off the way we are thrown into the current family drama is actually very shocking but at the same time I laughed out loud. I felt as if I was there in the room and I could feel the tension and the air being sucked out. Then again with the aftermath. There were moments I wanted to crawl into the book and hold my favorite characters.
I loved how we get to meet each character is such an intimate way. Cat Shook really allows the reader to get into multiple characters' mindset to see how they are handling the current family situation and how they are struggling with their own. Every page was full of raw emotions and deep thoughts that we tend not to share. But the growth the characters are moving throughout the novel is in a odd way for me comforting. Its kind of like that saying "be kind because everyone is fighting a battle". I'm officially a fan of Cat Shook and I hope she produce more of these stories that captivates her fans with charm and intense emotion. Great job!
