**Thank you to Celadon Books and author Catherine Shook for the advanced reader copy I received that this review is based upon**

"If We're Being Honest" starts by introducing the Williams family through the funeral of their beloved family patriarch, Gerry. The first chapter introduces us to all of the family members as they learn a secret about Gerry through his eulogy provided by close family friend, Frank.

Overall, I enjoyed the varying points of view from each of the family member. By writing the story in third person, Shook provides an overview of how each family member is reacting to the situation and what each person is thinking. However, I really struggled with the long chapters in this novel. Some of the chapters were over 50 pages, and I felt my interest waning during the really long chapters. Overall, I enjoyed this one and feel others will as well.
