If I were in a bookstore, the cover would catch my attention and the synopsis would make me want to read the first chapter. And what a first chapter it was! There was a lot going on in the first chapter and a heck of a lot of characters. But I feel like it would smooth out. The writing was solid and the story definitely drew me in.
