The blurb accompanying the first impression made the story sound promising, but after reading the (short) first impression, I'm not really sure where the story is going to go and I don't feel invested or particularly interested in any of the myriad characters to keep going. Yes, there was a major revelation at the grandfather's funeral and the first chapter seems to start the journey of processing grief and connecting/reconnecting with family and others from the past, but, as others mentioned, it seems a bit of a haphazard start with a lot of fits and starts as new characters are introduced in short succession of one another. Unfortunately there's not enough here for me to motivate me further into the story.
