Loved the Premise
The title, the brief synopsis and the comp title of Haig's THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY are definitely appealing, but as I read, the action did not seem to match the synopsis. It might just be a slower start. There is a car at the bottom of a pool during a contemporary-setting teenagers' party, but the driver still seems to be alive. There is a deadly car crash and multiple references to birds, so this might be a recurring symbol throughout the book of souls soaring on to new destinations. On page 30, the setting changes to another country (France) and over 180 years in the past. I found myself wanting a faster segue into the reincarnation/previous lives. It was not a strong 4 star for me.
