While I was definitely drawn into learning more about the characters and the struggles that Evan and Shosh are dealing with, I'm not sure if this book is for me. The writing style is pretty lyrical and, at times, a little over-dramatic in a way that I do think works well for teenage characters, but is also very hit-or-miss in how poetic it is for everyday things. Throughout this excerpt I never quite figured out if it was working for me. I do really enjoy the grand premise of this book and the more magical elements of that premise, and I think it could be deeply impactful for the right audience.
