When Zack Martin covers up a prank gone wrong for the senior captain on his soccer team, he's stuck doing community service at the seaside conservation center. He says goodbye to parties and beach bonfires for beach clean ups, a giant, sweaty shark costumes, and a cute intern named Chip. Since he needs to be at the conservation center for the day, he has to schedule summer soccer practices super early, leaving the rest of the team angry at him, Chip refuses to give Zack the time of day since he thinks he's responsible for the prank. Tempers are rising, and the sand isn't the only thing heating up this summer.

This was a cute and fun read, perfect for the summer and poolside reading! Zack could be a bit of a pain at times, but I think it perfectly encapsulated what it's like to be a teenager when anything and everything can feel so big. I also really liked Zack's friendships! I feel like male friendships don't get the same spotlight that female friendships do, so it was great to see that level of support and communication. I also love how normalized Zach and Chip's relationship is. No one gives them a hard time for being in a queer relationship, and it's nice to not have to be hit with homophobia while trying to read to sweet summer story.
