So I wasn’t too sure how I was going to feel about this, but going into it. I was looking forward to the aspect of these high school students who are athletes also identifying as gay simply, because in forms of media, it’s not something we see a lot of.
I will start off by saying I love how natural it was that our main character, Zach, is gay and openly dating guys even if it goes unnoticed. I surprisingly enjoyed the friendship that Zach had with his friends. I don’t know if I necessarily liked Zack as a character though. Simply because it didn’t make sense to me why he would cover for an incident that he played absolutely no part in.
Despite all that, I did find the story to be a very cute, light, slow burn, romance between Zack and Chip that I was rooting for them in the end. It was so refreshing to read a story that was so queer friendly and not once did are two main characters ever have to deal with homophobia.
