This was a very meh book for me. I loved a lot of things about it but what I didn't love was the main character. I think the author thought that his noble deed at the beginning of the book would make up for all the other terrible things he does but it doesn't. He lies and lies, and not even for noble reasons but for shallow things like getting a guy to notice him. He cares so little about anything else other than his soccer career. I didn't even really understand him taking the blame in the first place. Also this book reads a little younger than high school.

The thing I really did love about this book was the queer representation and how well that was handled. It felt really normal which is to say some books don't treat it as an everyday thing which this book did well. I also appreciated this was a romance in which the queer couple seemed to know they were queer and comfortable with that part of their identity.
