Fantastic first sentence and then it got better

I must admit that I have never read anything by Gayle Forman. I saw the movie based on one of her books and was not overly impressed so I did not try her books. Now I will check out her other books because this one is very well written. The main character is very real and I could imagine her. The sentence structure is wonderful with great word choice. Word choice is obviously important but especially in YA. Either YA has simplified word choice which I find insulting or academic words which in my opinion come off as stuck up. This book has the perfect mix. Relatable word choice but with some higher words thrown in to give it an older feel. I know many of my students will be excited to read this new book.
