I was really looking forward to this book. Like the cover, the premise and the fact that it was a debute author were all drawing me to read it. I finally got it from my library and immediately started it. But I could not for the life of me get into it. The characters were deeply unlikeable and rather boring and the story was not engaging despite the fact that the premise promised everyhing I enjoy in a book. Which made me so incredibly sad because I loved the idea of this demon in the catacombs. But when that finally happened I was ready to read anything else. I ended up skimming it just to finish. I imagine there are others who will love this and the writing style. It wasn't for me unfortunately. But I encourage others to try it. I will definitely try whatever this author brings out in the future though. As I believe that they have some horror ideas I would be interested in.
