Most Anticipated on my TBR
I have been waiting to finally get to read this book. This is a story about a young Black girl who is competing in ballet school for the top spot. Meanwhile, she starts to notice dark magic all around her. She will do anything to prove she is one of the best.
The writing style is engaging and I can't wait to finish the rest. Most YA books are a little cheesy but this is far from cheesy. It was hard to put this book down. I never anticipated how ballet would tie into the mystery/thriller theme. I wish that the conflict was a little more realistic. There are a lot of analogies that can be drawn surrounding the mistreatment of women in ballet, and the lack of diversity in ballet. Laurence is the next Misty Copeland, every young girl needs someone to look up to. Black and LGBTQIA+ representation!! This book should be on everyone's shelves, and more popular on social media.
