Hauntingly, brutally beautiful!!

Phenomenal…this story of rage and redemption was so well done!! The characters were all finely written, and the behind-the-scenes glimpses into the world of ballet rang true. For a sport so hidden in softness and femininity, it’s brutal, cutthroat and not for the faint of heart. I’m actually shocked I haven’t read a horror treatment about it before!! The author also did an excellent job at exploring the intersection of class and race within the sport, and the ways that constantly feeling left out (whether by ignorance or by overt design) could drive one to seek more power and control. Laurence is an engaging and empathetic lead, and as she draws closer to making decisions that on the surface, she should rebuke, as a reader you also WANT to see her make those choices and finally get the recognition she deserves.

I can’t wait to have another adventure with Laurence and her gang!!
