The world of ballet is overly competitive, from addictions to shows. Laure dances in Paris and wants to reach the very top but doesn’t think she has the talent for it, no matter how hard she tries. Then she makes a deal with a river of blood that lays deep in the Catacombs. Everything starts to spiral out of control, in destruction, yet she isn’t the only monster in Paris.
First off, the cover is beautiful and haunting. Though, I am not the biggest fan of long names for book titles. This is an amazing twisted, dark novel. It started out slow but I wanted to know what is going to happen next. I enjoyed Laure’s character and seeing what she will sacrifice in order to gain power. All the characters are also equally diverse within the storyline. I don’t know that much about ballet besides Barbie movies but I enjoyed reading it. I do wish it had more horror into it.
