I was really excited to read this book because I love ballet drama. However, I should have known by the title that this author wasn't going to be my thing. The story is interesting and I love the ballet details, but everything else needs a little more work. I don't understand Lauren's relationships with nearly anyone around her, and I don't know what exactly her motivation is, because "be the best so mommy and daddy love me again" just isn't it. The ballet details are THERE, but the Acheron details are certainly not. The relationship details are also lacking. It feels like the author didn't know what to expand, so she just threw in a bunch of extra plot points instead. Maybe someone younger reading this book would care less about these things, but it was impossible to ignore at the best of times. I will give this book three stars for trying.
