The description of the book is fascinating, immediately drawing me in. The first look was less interesting. A young girl who does fit the conventions (white, rich, from the 'right' families) trying to make it in a cutthroat, prejudice, and insular environment/profession is a well-tread story line and chapter one wasn't doing anything I found very interesting with it. The prologue gives me hope that it will get good though.
