Before reading the book:
I was pretty excited for this book. Especially since it was an ARC. I had never received an ARC before. However, I only received it a couple of days before the release date so I did not have time to read it beforehand. I actually found this book through a friend of mine and she claimed that it was really good and definitely worth the read. This will be my first Katherine Center book and I have to admit that I don’t know if this is something that I would have picked up had my friend not told me about it.

In this story, we follow a main character who is terrified of planes. Despite this fact, she has found her perfect life companion who is very close from getting his pilots license.

After Reading:
This book was great just like I was told. I’m mad at myself for waiting so long to read it.

This beautiful novel really hits below the belt for Margaret and puts her through more than one ringer. Tears her down until there is almost nothing left. Then, leads us through the eye opening tale of how she builds herself back up.

“It’s the trying that heals you. That’s all you have to do. Just try.”

I’m not sure if there is any better advice out there for anything. It doesn’t just apply to physical injury, it absolutely applies to emotional injury too and I think it’s really important. This quote might be one of my all time favorites now because of its simplicity. Because of its power. Because of its truth.

“When you feel happy, or joyful, it’s kind of like a brightness in your chest, and my heart was too numb for brightness.”

This quote hits a little bit too close to home, but when followed up with the previously quoted line, somehow it’s not so bad. It’s not so bleak.

If I could choose one word to describe this book, I would choose: empowering.

Nina George said “If you read just one book this year, read How to Walk Away.” I agree with this statement.
