Margaret is terrified of flying, so she imagines the worst each time she goes up in an airplane. Her beloved, probably the man she will marry, Chip, is dedicated to getting his pilot’s license. Thus, there is conflict. But Chip plans a romantic way to propose..in the air, before he is a fully certified pilot. He does, and then the unthinkable happens and they crash land. They had been talking about their wedding and suddenly, Margaret isn’t sure that she will even survive. This was a fanstastic beginning to a novel, with humor, conflict and realism all portrayed beautifully. The author makes you want to find out what happens to Margaret and Chip and if it survives this ordeal of a first flight together.
