Based on the fact that the book used the first person POV from the perspective of Margaret, I have to assume that she survived the plane crash that was the real focus of the chapter. But that only begins to interest me in this book. Margaret appears to be a person whose life is ruled by fear. (What will I need to do if the worst happens?) Top of her list is a fear of flying. Her boyfriend, Chip, has been working on his pilot's license and is anxious to take Margaret up. His plan is to both impress her and use the event as an opportunity to propose marriage to her.

What concerns me about Chip is that he clearly failed to take Margaret's fears seriously, brushing them off with the suggestion that it's time to grow up. This is not the groundwork for a successful relationship! Of course the worst happens and the small Cessna 172 crashes on landing and Margaret's worst fears are realized.

My suspicion is that the book will focus on Margaret's recovery from the accident--physically and more importantly emotionally--since the man she loved did not pay attention to her fears.

I suspect Margaret will have a long recovery process with a lot of learning and growing to do before she is strong enough to take the dream job she has just gotten.

I was immediately drawn into Margaret's story. She is an interesting character and I look forward to reading the rest of it.
