Feels younger than the audience it’s geared toward

I know this is a young adult book, but it feels even younger than that, although I say that having enjoyed many YA and middle grade books. But this one just feels very immature to me. The tone is off and I was very quickly annoyed. It’s clear this book is not a good fit for me.
