What I liked about this book is that it is easy to read. This is definitely a great example of YA writing. Nothing too over the top or complicated about the story.
I also find that the main character is easy to like.
I admire how the story is set in the "real world" and not a fictional one. The magic is innate but also learned. Providing that ability to learned how to do magic creates a way to balance out nature versus nurture when it comes to magical abilities and succeeding in witchcraft.
