I think the cover was okay, but not impressive. I think it was most likely done personally, But the cover never something I worried over. I like finding authors who write well and that almost never means the art is as good.
For the story, however, I like the development of the characters already exposed in the sample. It seems a few of them will be carrying the protagonist through a whirlwind or ongoing mischief. There's no end of fun that can be had from what I've seen so far.
