How to Find What You're Not looking for is a historical fiction Novel by Veera Hiranandani. The story is told by a Jewish girl named Ariel Goldberg who is twelve years old. Her parents run a Jewish Bakery and her she has an older sister. Her older sister starts dating a non-Jewish man who is from India. Her parents disapprove based solely on the fact that he is not Jewish which leads to their eldest child eloping. I love that books are touching on these subjects at younger and younger ages. This is a great read for middle schoolers to get a better understanding about prejudices. The plot is from the point of view of Ariel and how she is navigating through life with all these things happening around her .Her parents are having financial troubles, and her sister eloping, and dealing with prejudices against herself. I would recommend this book to people of all ages!
