Great descriptive book!
As I was reading this I kept thinking this is a book with lots of different topics for a middle schooler. We discover racism, bullying, war and medical issues. This book is set in 1967 in Connecticut. Ariel and Leah are sisters and their folks run a bakery. They had moved away from Boston and family previously. They were a Jewish couple so when Leah started seeing Raj who was from India they were not happy to say the least. This was also the time of Loving vs Virginia case where is became legal for interracial marriages. I loved how descriptive the book was in parts such as kneading the dough and Ariel way to find her sister. I loved the ending of this book and it so well written and I do believe the younger generations should see how far we have come in this world. We still have a long ways but hopefully this will help the younger people understand.
