I grew up in the sixties and the first couple of chapters of this story shows exactly the racist, prejudiced society that I remember. I feel so deeply for Ariel and Leah that I have to finish the rest of this book. I can remember my parents telling me I could only date Catholic boys even though I went to a public school. How sad for Leah that her parents put such burden on her to only fall in love with a Jewish boy! The author has done a wonderful job of explaining Ariel's emotions as well as how passionate Leah feels about the state of their society.
