Interesting historical fiction read

First off, I really like the cover art for this book - that is initially what drew me in. Reading the first look and the blurb, I really like the idea of a book about a not often talked about time in US history. I also like how the point of view is from a Jewish character, which you don't find often in books these days. It seems like a great middle grade book, but seems too simplistic for me.
