I related more to Leah

I noticed the point of view is different than what I'm used to reading. I think it's called the second-person point of view and at first, I wasn't used to it but it gradually becomes normal and just the style of the book. I don't know if I really relate to being Ariel because I was more like Leah, the older sibling with the interracial relationship that my parents were also iffy about. Having the second-person POV didn't make me feel more of Ariel's feelings but reading about Leah's situation made me more invested. I think for me, I could do without the second-person perspective.
The book cover is so cute, fun, and quirky. It's definitely eye-catching and I would have picked it up in a bookstore to see what the story is about!
