I had no expectations whatsoever for this book, and I rarely read middle grade--but it's written in second-person POV??? That is so rare to find in books and I just adore second-person POV. I personally find it super readable. Not only that, the writing itself is good. It reads a bit more like YA to me. The book is about Ari and the way in which her family confronts its own prejudices, even as a minority group themselves. This seems like it'll be a great historical fiction book for all ages.
