The author writes in second person, making you feel as though you are going through the time of Martin Luther King Jr. The main character is an 11 year old Jewish girl that is beginning to learn about racism and the world around her through watching her sister fall in love with someone that her parents do not approve of. I love how close the sisters are, even though they aren’t close in age. That her older sister makes a point to explain things that Ari never thought about. The author makes you feel as though you are going through this, down to that awful feeling of dread in your stomach that you feel when things aren’t quite right and you aren’t sure what is going to happen. Seems like an interesting read, maybe something I’d read during my low spurts. Or even maybe a middle school book to give a different perspective than what we see now.
