This is a story about Biz a mentally ill teenager. Who even as a small child put herself in dangerous situations on purpose. Her father was bi-polar and I suspect he killed himself. He died when she was only seven years old. She is very bright and has a photograhic memory. She is very confused about her sexuality. It appears that no one is aware of her mental illness. She see's and talk's to her father which is the defination of psychosis. She is very happy to belong to a group of six teenagers that have been together from 9th to 11th grade. They are called the "Posse" and help in her sense of self. Though "And almost every second of every minute I'm with them, I feel like I'm seeing the scene from somewhere else. In front of a screen maybe, watching someone else's life." She had an experience of the ocean talking to her and almost drowned but was rescued by a boy named Jasper. Jasper knew she was trying to drown herself and couldn't even look at her after that. It would have been a good opportunity to get her help. I feel this book is very well written and you can feel what Biz is going through.
