What first interested me was the wording; you have to think about the greater meaning behind the words which adds to the story. The way the main character's personality and thought process are shown makes you want to keep reading. There is a lot of background information ie. her dad dying, where they used to live, school, and other random tid-bits that aren't so random that lead up to what happens next in the story, showing that what happened in the past is not what the main focus is. It is an easy book to fall into and continue to read until it concludes and it did, for me at least, bring me back to high school.
