Biz is a teenager in her 11th year of school and has her special click of friends that she runs with, but only one girl that she's really close to, and even Grace doesn't know Biz's private world or her secrets. Having lost her father when she was only seven, she lives with her mom and her younger twin brother and sister, who are only six, thus her home life isn't one where she feels she can pour her heart out as she feels her mom is doing everything she can to make a good life for their family, and she doesn't want to cause any more problems.

What absolutely no one knows is that Biz is still being "visited" by her father. He talks to her about her thoughts and feelings, about their life before he left and how proud he was of her, and all the wonderful moments they shared, even telling stories of when he and her mother dated.

When a new boy starts school and is in several of her classes, Biz sees that he has a noticeable limp and feels no one is attempting to make friends with him. Knowing how much that can hurt, she finally approaches him and asks if he would like to take a walk with her, but he rather rudely blows her off as if she's insulted him.

Helena Fox's novel starts on a very believable premise, though I'm certain Biz's mother would have been totally upset with the behavior and the drinking scene at the beach if she had known, unless drinking and staying out late is typical for Biz in her relationship with her friends, and her mother already knows. Uncertain about the rest of this novel, but definitely would be an interesting read.
