I know this is the author's debut, and it was an uncorrected proof, however I felt disconnected from the story. Sadly the first look didn't draw me in. I remember what books I enjoyed reading at the "YA" target age - this is not something I would've chosen for myself, nor would I choose for my kids. It could be the style of writing that disconnects me, however the story didn't draw me in.
