This was my first book to read by Arvin Ahmadi and I was blown away! I think it was incredibly well written and I didn't feel dull or fall flat anywhere. It was so personal and honest and I felt so drawn to the characters. It was a fairly quick read and was pretty easy. I nearly finished it in a day.

18-year-old Amir is a queer Muslim with conservative parents. Amir is blackmailed by somebody at his school to either pay him money or get outed. He ends up fleeing and flies to New York and then Rome. I was really drawn to Amir's character and felt very invested in his story. I loved the relationships in the story, specifically Amir's with his sister.

I think now I'll be reaching for more of his books after this spectacular read. This was a heartfelt, emotional story and completely original and I'm curious as to how his other books are! I think this such an important read and I recommend!
