When Amir gets blackmailed by his classmate threatening to out him to his family, he panics and runs away to Europe to escape his problems.

So, I didn’t finish all of this book because I couldn’t’ get that into it. That absolutely does not mean it’s a bad book. I think it’s quite good, but I’m not the target audience and I think that really makes a difference. Therefore, it’s not my place to say if things felt authentic or not or ‘I wish it was more...’ because some of these events are based on the author’s personal experiences and are not something I can relate to. From what I did read (about half) Amir’s family was very interesting to read (in the interview snippets) and in general the mood was entertaining and snarky despite the relatively heavy topics. I hope this story ends up in the right hands in teens who need it.
