The writing was bleh. I am a high school librarian and I love realistic fiction about teens. It is a wonderful way to reach teens but I would hand this to my students. The writing is just plain awful. The voice is bland. I felt like the author is trying to portray sassiness and character in the main character but I didn't feel it. Some books feel like words on a page strung together to make sentences and other books feel like thought and lyrics. This is words on a page strung together to create the illusion to thought, feeling, and emotion. It lacks all the meat and energy needed to create an engaging story. I love the idea of the book but sadly the writing gets in the way of the proposed story.
