Amir Azadi is gay, muslim and in a boat-load of trouble.

Being an Indian teenager myself, I connected with Amir on a spiritual level. He's just another teenage boy trying to live up to his orthodox parents completely unrealistic expectations. Of course, being gay and having already kissed a boy may not fit into his parents list of ideal traits for a religious muslim son, but he's got that covered too. He's going to run away!

Arvin Ahmadi has talked about one of the most taboo topics in a muslim household in the most hilarious, but definitely not understated language. The writing is absolutely beautiful and the humor feels so natural that you can't help but relate to him.

Now I know I probably can't convince my parents to read this book, so I'll just keep spamming Netflix to make this into a movie and get my parents to watch that!
