Everything from the cover, to the title, to the first few pages has fully caught my attention. The candid writing style of the beginning was completely captivating from the first paragraph. Right away I wanted to know what happened that led to our narrator giving this account in an airport interrogation room. I love the representation/exploration of social issues (race, LGBTQ) and how a seemingly unbelievable story seems to tackle the complexities of coming of age (and further, coming out).
