I really wanted to like this book yet sadly I came out of this thinking that this is one of my least favourite books I've ever read. My first major issue is that this is sold as a gay Muslim YA book. However, Islam plays no part in this story. The character openly says that he and his family are not religious at all yet somehow this is a Muslim book. This is an issue across all of publishing; calling books Muslim YA books when in fact it's just culture that plays a part in the story
