Straight from the start, the story addresses a heavy topic (I don't want to spoil it if you haven't read it yet). I can't even begin to imagine what it was like for Amir but I empathize and support his decisions. I don't have Amir's specific problems but I can relate to his family dynamics. He loves his family and only wants them to love him back, but because his parents don't believe in the same things he's forced to hide his true self. I totally understand what it feels like when my parents and their traditional culture/values clash with my more liberal beliefs. Because of this, I find myself supporting Amir. I really want Amir's family to accept him and I hope everything works out. I want to read on to find out!
