Good start, interesting story premise.

I would pick this up and read it. I'm always interested in different cultures and more, how immigrants frame their experience in the U.S. I've enjoyed novels of this type before, even with immigrants to the U.K., like Balli Jaswal's "Erotic Stories for Punjabi Women," and Leye Andele's "Easy Motion Tourist."

I'm hoping that the story will flow better after the interrogation part is over. I don't think that that structure would maintain my interest for the full novel, but I like it as a device to introduce characters, their perspectives, their backgrounds. If the whole novel is written in that manner, then no, I wouldn't like it, it would be wearisome.
