I cannot wait to read the rest of this book. Own voices really make a difference. I relate to Amir so very much. I remember worrying about being outed in high school (and then being outed) and just wanting to escape it all. Those feelings of being out of control of your own life and how your family will react to the real you. I love how Ahmadi’s writing lets us explore not just Amir’s experience but that of his families too. It’s easy to forget all the baggage our families carry that affect how they perceive us and this multi-voice narrative brings this to the forefront in a way that I am excited to dive deeper into.
