This is a business book. Yeats ago, when I retired, I decided I would no longer read business books. I was no longer going to start my own business. But every now and then, one sneaks in.
The author has a podcast where he interviews entrepreneurs about their process. He likens their efforts and successes to the Hero's Journey, a form of epic storytelling. The entrepreneur is the hero and his path from idea to successful business is the journey. It can be said to fit the form.
Building a business is not an easy job. Keeping one alive is even harder, as we can see from all the brands that lie by the wayside. This book is not an attempt to print out a map to success, but instead a listing of the various ways different entrepreneurs took the journey. Not everything will work in the same order or on the same time span for everyone.
It was a quick read and I did enjoy it. It's not quite the self-help book many business books are, but you can learn from it.
