The cover and descriptions made me so excited to read this book. Honestly, this book might be amazing but I wouldn’t know because I didn’t finish it. The beginning of the book should be one of the most interesting parts of the book because it needs to attract and keep a reader. It attracted me but it couldn’t keep me.
I was on the edge of my feet when she was on the run with her mother. However, once she entered the House of Marionne, I became so bored. I was constantly pulled out of the story when it came to the world-building as I felt confused on how this world and the magic system worked. I also thought the romance was pretty stagnant and I didn’t get any chemistry between Quell and Jordan. I officially DNFed at the 25% mark after reading a full chapter on dining etiquette.
