This book has so much to love!
Starting with the cover--hello, it is absolutely stunning! The cover artists have really been knocking it out of the park with many books that have come out recently! House of Marionne included!
This book has so many concepts/tropes that I absolutely love: dark academia, dark magic, secret societies, magical school... it was all great!
I think my favorite part about this book was the setting of the magical school--the atmosphere was so wonderful to read about. I feel like we don't see as many magical schools in YA fantasy these days, so it was nice to see!
I thought that the magic system itself was interesting, but a bit confusing at the same time. I'm not sure I could explain it concretely by the time I ended the book. Maybe that will all be worked out in a future book; but that was a bummer.
I also love a good enemies-to-lovers, and while that was present here, I wish that it was bit more of a slow burn. But I still liked the romance for the most part.
