This book had its strong points and weak points. I definitely wanted more worldbuilding and history of the magic lines and such. The tidbits were so interesting but not detailed enough. Plus the magic classes were so short that I am amazed Quell learned as much as she did when trying to get the rituals to bind her "forbidden" magic.

I did like the shifter's abilities for making the clothes and such though. I really enjoyed picturing the dresses that had been made for the balls and cotillion.

I hope that Quell can wreak havoc and bring down the corrupt houses with her magic. I do not think her magic is bad, especially when so many people are still using it on the sly, despite it being forbidden. I hope she and Yagrin bring it all down! I liked Yagrin better than Jordan anyways. That romance between him and Quell seemed awkward and I don't think it was necessary.

It will be interesting to see how the next book goes.
